Due to good behaviour, for the month of September we are running 2-4-1 Fridays and Saturdays 6pm to 7pm during our Yard Happy Hour.
Beyond the Alcotraz cell blocks’ confined walls lies a daring new territory, where freedom feels a little closer and the rules start to bend. Here, savvy inmates trade contraband cigarettes for their illicit libations, the oldest prison currency meeting modern craft drinks.
Every exchange tells a story, every sip a small act of rebellion in this bold new corner of Alcotraz.
Inmates can score their contraband cocktails from the seemingly inconspicuous “tool shed” the perfect front for our most covert operation yet.
Whether you’re sipping our signature hooch from repurposed oil cans, or enjoying craftily concealed cocktails from modified prison-issue boots, this is where the smuggling begins.
Whether you’re flexing your muscles at the gym or working on your prison yard hustle at the basketball court, there’s always action happening behind the wire.

Choose one of our three booking options depending on your group size, how long you’d like to stay, and what you’d like included.
From small groups looking for a quick escape to larger crews planning a full takeover of the Yard, each option offers a unique way to experience Alcotraz.
Small Groups 2-8
Instant Bookings available.
Bookings of 1-2 hours.
Add-on your prison uniform and/or drinks tokens during checkout.
Drinks tokens are in the prison’s currency – cigarettes, with more available to be purchased at the venue.

Large Groups 9-30
Book via enquiry first.
Choose between 2, 3 or 4 hour stays and pay for the corresponding drink packages. You’ll receive tokens in the form of the prison’s currency – cigarettes.
Further drinks and snacks to be purchased normally on site if needed.
Gain entry to the Yard with your prison uniform provided.
Prices range from £28 per person for 4 drink tokens up to £70 per person for 10 drink tokens.
Private Group 31-60
For groups of 31-60 you can enquire about privately hiring the venue here.
Whether you are in the mood to celebrate the sense of freedom that comes with yard time with a bucket of beers, or to keep your contraband inconspicuous with our ‘Paint Supplies’ cocktails, visit the “tool shed” – your undercover spot for all drink and snack options.
How long is the Yard remaining open for? Is it permanent or limited time.

Is "The Yard" different from the Alcotraz experience?
Yes, The Yard is different to Alcotraz.
Alcotraz is our indoor ticketed experience, lasting 1 hour 45 mins, where you smuggle in your own alcohol and get 4 personalised cocktails. Tickets start from £41.96 and can be bought via our website.
The Yard is outdoors (although undercover) and more of a traditional bar format, albeit prison themed, where you buy your drinks from a menu and can reserve a table for varying lengths of time.
What do I wear to Alcotraz The Yard?
Those visiting the Yard can wear what they choose. If you are booking an ‘Inmate’ option then you will be given n orange inmate jacket for the duration of your sentence. These range in size from S to XXL.
How long will I spend at Alcotraz The Yard?
Your sentence duration is up to you. Small bookings of 1-8 people can choose to stay for 1 or 2 hours. Bigger bookings of 9 or more can stay for up to 4 hours, with private hires going up to 5 hours.
Are drinks included?
Unlike the regular Alcotraz Experience, The Yard operates like a normal bar where drinks are purchased on site from a menu.
The only difference is if you book as an Inmate, then you will be given at least 1 cigarette on arrival, depending on your booking, that can be exchanged for a drink.
Do I need to bring alcohol with me?
No, alcohol only needs to be smuggled in to our alternative ticketed immersive cocktail experience.
Is food provided?
There are light snacks available to purchase.
What is the seating like?
As a visitor or inmate in the Yard, you’ll either be seated at the Gym, on the bleachers or in the main Yard. All seats are backless (don’t have a back rest) and some don’t have dedicated table space either.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately we are unable to refund or cancel bookings, however, it is possible to move your booking to another day if we are given appropriate notice depending on your group size. If your group is 5 or less, please provide 48 hours notice prior to your visit. If your group is 6 or more, please provide 96 hours notice prior to your visit. Any purchases made individually will be treated as part of the wider group that they were looking to attend with. If you happen to make your booking within this time period then unfortunately an exchange is not possible. If the appropriate notice applies to your group size then please email thewarden@alcotraz.co.uk to complete an exchange.
Is Alcotraz The Yard accessible?
Yes the Yard is accessible as the space is all on one floor and the accessible toilet in Alcotraz next door can be used by Yard guests. To ensure a smooth experience, if you are a wheelchair user of have a user in your group, after booking, please email thewarden@alcotraz.co.uk with your bookings info and we can make a note on our end and assign you an appropriate table.
